As a form of Astra Agro Lestari’s (AAL) commitment in synergy in achieving sustainable development goals (SDGs), especially in the sustainable palm oil industry, which prioritizes a balance between the interests of society, the environment and business profitability. Astra Agro Lestari makes sustainability policies through the conservation of biodiversity, soil and water to reduce greenhouse gases through protecting forests, peatlands and respecting Human Rights (HAM). The implementation of this policy is to reassess High Conservation Value and High Carbon Stock (HCT-HCS) areas in all Astra Agro subsidiaries which are targeted for completion in 2025.
It is recorded that there are 41 AAL subsidiaries spread across the islands of Kalimantan, Sulawesi and Sumatra. Five (5) companies in Riau Province, 2 in Nagroe Aceh Darusalam Province, 1 in Jambi, 5 in West Sulawesi province, 5 in Central Sulawesi Province, 10 in Central Kalimantan Province, 8 in East Kalimantan Province, and 5 in South Kalimantan Province . Until 2023, a reassessment of HCV-HCS areas has been completed in 6 areas of AAL’s subsidiaries.
